Editorial Pages

My editorial was inspired by my FMP theme which was mainly based on Colleen Atwood’s work and costumes. The reason I picked Colleen Atwood's work to influence mine was because of the use of patterns and colour scheme she used within her work. I used and adapted images that I found on the Internet. To be able to change the photos to the way I wanted them I used Photoshop. Once I amended the images by adding my own style of title that said "Colleen Atwood". I wrote up information about her and made sure that the write went around the images background, which was the tree to generate a better outcome. After I added the text I decided that I should edit the background so it looked smoother and similar to each other was a skill I developed in Photoshop, I did this by using the clone tool. I really am impressed with how my editorial came out at the end because it appearance is very professional as well as being similar to each other so that the people reading it would know that they both link together. The one item I would decide to change if I was to do my editorial again would be the second page by having less text on it as I feel like the amount of text on it is over powering. This piece of work also influences the amount of skills I've developed in Photoshop.

DIY mood board

This one piece of work that relates to my DIY theme which was warriors so for my further exploring into warriors I decided I wanted to go down the path of gladiators and adapt there outfits in my work. When forming this mood board I gathered multiple images based on gladiators and there outfits being men and women. After id collected the relevant images I wanted to use in my work, I adapted them in Photoshop to create a board of collage of images. I felt as though I needed to change the layout of my boards and for doing this I decided to cut into the images so that they are broken up which it created a mysterious effect within the board, it was also different from most of my work so it showed how my skills within Photoshop had improved. The idea of this board gave it more movement by separating the images. By having different shade of colours in this piece gave it a better appearance rather than having maintaining the same colour throughout. When over lapping the images it was easier having to only over lap a certain part of the image rather than the whole thing. The main focus on this board is the gladiator eye in the top corner as they are the first focus point when I look at this board because I feel like they draw you in especially having it separated.

Botanical mood board

This piece of work is of a mood board that relates to the theme botanicals which was given out on a brief. By doing this board I firstly collected a range of floral images that would link together by having a certain colour theme and specific flowers. Next I adapted the images in Photoshop by either deleting the backgrounds or adding effects to the images such as feathering them. Once I had the images the way I wanted them, I arranged them in a collage on a separate page in Photoshop. I did many different arrangements until I had the arrangement I was finally pleased with. I decided to firstly place the floral garments down and then over the top place the flowers so that the garments are behind them. By adding the blue blocks it gave more effect to the board, also I feathered and lightened them so that they didn't stand out or take away the focus from the floral images. I truly admire that the board fits well together and doesn't look untidy by being over loaded with images.

Mixed Media Piece

This is my best piece of mixed media which is from a fashion illustration as it is a very strong piece and shows my best skills. This piece of mixed media had been adapted by the use of stitch onto it. To create this piece I drew around a fashion illustration and then decided the best skin colour that suited the illustration. Using different coloured stitch helped emphasize the skin colours and hair colour I used skills such as stitch, dye, fabrics and drawing. Adding dyed fabric to the mixed media piece gave it more of a pattern and made it look more specialised. Once I'd finished it, I added the glasses onto the face so that it fitted more in the summer theme of the illustration. I admire the way the skirt isn't attached so it creates movement within the mixed media piece as well as having the dyed skirt a mix of colour that suits the top section of the sunshine yellow. To access this piece of work I had to scan It into the computer and crop around the edges to make it look more presentable.

Sketch book pages

These are examples of sketch book pages that I have used to show development of ideas and designs based on the theme Alice in Wonderland. I gained skills in collages, watercolour, pencil and fine line when planning and constructing these pages for my sketch book. Having used a collage to express ideas enhanced a variety of ideas, styles, clothing and development of the theme. The collage is of Amanda Seyfried that she did of an Alice in wonderland photo shoot for a magazine, I used these specific images because I was inspired by the over sized objects that were used to express the fact she was acting as Alice where all the objects were big just like the film so it links together. By researching into this I decided to develop this into my own work and exaggerate some items. Using a quote on a page suggested that I could adapt that and involve certain quotes in some of my designs.  The main reason I adore these certain pages is because the quote was used in the photo shoot so that they link together beautifully.

Alice in Wonderland mood board

This piece is an example of a Alice in wonderland mood board that had been created from images that I'd picked out that relate to the theme  Alice in Wonderland. The photos I used to produce the board were images of hats, playing cards, tea cups, forest and Alice in wonderland outfits. I also combined many quotes from Alice in wonderland so that I could benefit from them. Once I collected the images I adapted them in Photoshop by doing this I feathered them and blended them in so they weren't in blocks and this was  to create a board which consisted of a collage. Having different types of images that relate to fashion and styles gave it an advantage to my designs and ideas. I found it difficult to start this board because I couldn't find images that would go well together so I did this board multiple times to come out with my final board. After I got my final board sorted the main item I was really impressed with was the way the images are placed together and how they overlap well.

Alice in Wonderland designs

This Alice in Wonderland designs involved Photoshop and editing them to make them look more professional. I decided to draw up a few designs for my FMP work so that I was able to take different aspects from them. When I'd decided which designs I wanted to transfer into  Photoshop, I went around the images and it helped smooth out the images and designs because this gave it a healthier final outcome. In these designs there are two Alice designs, two white queen designs and two red queens to give a variety of ideas that can relate to these characters. The background is a picture taken from the cartoon original Alice in Wonderland film of different directions which can link to my design as each can be taken in different directions. To be able to get an accurate drawing of Alice in Wonderland costumes I had images in front of me so I could adapt certain items from them into my own work. What I love about these designs is how modern and how skilful it appears.

Line up Alice in Wonderland

My Alice in Wonderland line up consists of my three final garments that I designed and plan to construct. To be able to create this board I used Photoshop to help me construct this line up of my chosen theme. To be able to access these designs that I drew, I scanned them in and edited them on  Photoshop giving each design its set colour relating to a certain character in Alice in Wonderland such as the red queen, white queen and Alice. So that the line up linked more into the theme of Alice in wonderland I Adapted the background by relating it to a woodland theme. In doing these design, I added front and back views of the designs so that the audience could see how the outfit would appear in both views. The final outcome of this board came out successfully as it portrays the outfits I plan on constructing.

Greyed out board

For this piece of work I had to come up with a personal project that could relate to whatever I wanted to so I decided to use the theme grey. To be able to build this board I had to gather multiple different images that reflected the colour grey by using different shades and styles. When putting this board together I had to decided which images appeared to be similar and would look decent together.Having different shade and styles of grey out fits gave an advantage to my designs and ideas that then could develop into whatever shape or size that I wanted to design. Most of the images that have been used for this board are feathered or had the backgrounds cropped so its just the individual image. The pictures are all overlapped so that some stand out more compared to the others as they are in the background behind them. To create a different idea to this board I placed grey rectangular blocks so that it linked in with the theme as well as making the board different to the others.

Line Up greyed out

My greyed out line up was a personal project that I admired doing. For this using Photoshop was to develop a line-up of designs I had scanned into the computer and then showed more progress in my work. To make it more interesting I used a range of shades of the colour grey as it gave the designs different reflections of the garments. In these designs I changed the garments throughout so that none of them were similar to each other. To create these designs I researched into grey outfits and styles that I could then develop into my own work. By scanning them into the computer it helped gain more of an effective appearance on my designs as well as giving them a smoother edge around them.

Illustrations

These illustrations were done based on the illustrator David Downton that I had research about for this project. After that I  adapted the illustrations to create my own style of his work such as using the same images yet using a range of techniques to portray different outcomes such as using watercolour, pencil, finer liner and pen to gain more skills in doing these techniques. When constructing them I decided to duplicate the same image to create a double effect with the illustrations to put my own twist into them. Once id completed my collage I decided to do the same idea but using a different image to gain a different effect again. By adding research to the page made it look more in depth and to show I fully researched the illustrator as well as using his work. If I was to improve this piece of work I would put more time into my collage of different techniques so that they were perfect and accurate.

Look book pages

For doing these pages I had to take my own photos and plan my own photo shoot that linked in with a theme from New look as this was my chosen store I wanted to represent. The images had been taken were  adapted and edited on Photoshop so that they all link in together such as changing the lighting. In doing this is provided a more professional look for the book as well as the images standing out from the background. The model were styled and are trying to promote chequered shirts for the brand New Look. Using previous photography skills I chose the location, the models and positions of them. When arranging the images I had to make sure that none of them were too similar or that they didn't look correct together. All of the models were told to wear chequered shirts as this was the theme of my New Look book which I was trying to portray to customers. I directed  the models by telling them how to stance and how to wear there shirts. The main reason as to why I was truly inspired by was because I took the photos.

Shellie

For this piece of photography, it relates back to my final theme in my first year and shows my garment that I produced over all. In using this image it portrays the floral background as well as adding an accessory in her hair. I organised how it would appear. The theme was botanical so for my final garment I decided to add floral patterns at the bottom of the dress, I only added minimal floral to my dress as I felt having too much floral within one dress makes it look untidy. The background of this image also relates towards the theme which enhances more of the floral idea. This is my favourite photograph of my botanical dress as it shows off the dress and also I designed the photograph by telling the model how to stand, by choosing my own model and by being able to take the photo shoot in my own located area.
